EDO STATE CHAPTER OF ANA BOUNCES BACK …ELECTS NEW EXECUTIVES

Today marks the beginning of a new dawn for the Edo State Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors(ANA) as it bouncs back to conduct fresh elections to elect new executives to man the affairs of the Association for the next three years.

The election which was free , fair, and transparent was conducted by a three-man committee(Barrister Tracy Inegbenosun, Mr ) was chaired by the Head of Centre AIT Benin,Mrs Joy Akpaida. It had in attendance the National President of the Association, Barrister Ahmed Maiwada.

Mrs Christy Omorogbe eventually emerged as the Chairperson of the Chapter.

Other executives includes; Mr Mackson Ode, Vice-Chairman, Mr Osakpolor Emwinromwankhre, Secrtary, Ms. Joy Oduwa Asemota, Assistant Secretary, Mrs Joy David, Treasurer, Ms. Glory Jonah, Mr Osazuwa Ogiemwonyi, PRO 1, Mr Gift John, PRO 11, Mr Sam Aihemegbe, Tracy Inegbenosun Esq, Mr Goodluck Ogbadi, Ex-official 1, Mrs Bisi Akpaida, Ex-official. 11.

Immediately after the elections the executives was sworn in by Barrister Ijeoma Helen Obadiegwu in the presence of the National President of the Association, Barrister Ahmed Maiwada.

In her acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairperson, Mrs Christy Omorogbe reiterated her committment towards moving the Association to greater heights in the state.

She thanked the National President for gracing the occasion and promise to carry all the executives and members of the Association along.

Highlight of the event includes; book reading by Mr Sam Aihimegbe titled “Turaki and the Emir of Dauda and Mr Osakpolor Emwinromwankhre tittled “Will peace ever reign in this house”.

Part of the objectives of ANA according to its Constitution is to encourage and promote Nigerian Literature and encourage the collection, recording, and transcription of all oral Literature.

Other includes; to promote the interest of authors in all that concerns their profession and well-being to protect their rights as authors.

Most importantly, to promote solidarity among Nigerian Authors to stimulate and develop indigenous talents, skill, and intellectual powers.
