Worried at the alarming rate of malnutrition in Nigeria, the Christain Association of Nigeria (CAN) yesterday embarked on sensitization of it’s various church leaders aimed at Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria
In his welcome address to kick off the event in Abuja under Accelerating Nutrition Results In Nigeria (ANRiN), the President of CAN His Eminence, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, said the workshop serves as a platform for sharing knowledge, experiences and innovative strategies that can propel efforts in combating malnutrition.
Accordion to him, nutrition remains foundational to human development and societal progress and not merely a matter of sustenance.
He further lamented that inadequate nutrition can lead to a myriad of health issues, particularly among our vulnerable populations- children, women, and even the elderly.
“The impact of malnutrition extends beyond the individual affecting our families. communities, and ultimately our nation’s growth and prosperity
“Therefore, we are here to learn from each other to brainstorm, and to forge partnerships that will enhance our collective impact. Let us engage in meaningful discussions that will lead to actionable solutions, ensuring that every Nigerian has access to the nutrition they need to thrive
The President however commended the World Bank through the Federal Ministry of Health and other collaborating organizations for their commitments in improving the nutritional landscape in Nigeria.
Members of the workshop were drawn from the 5 blocs that makes up CAN namely, OAIC, PFN/CPFN, ECWA/TERKAN, CCN and CSN including the Women and Youth as well as from other major stakeholders in Christaindom
The Communicator On-line Newspaper reliably gathered that Accelerating Nutrition Results In Nigeria (ANRIN) is being implemented in 11 states where malnutrition is endemic.
These states includes: Abia, Plateau, KOGI, Gombe, Kaduna,Kano, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Oyo and Kastina
