NHIS: well meaning Nigerians urged to support with enrollment of under privilege Nigerians.

The Nasarawa State Government has appleaed to well meaning Nigerians, Philanthropists, NGOs and public spirited Nigerians to assist the State in adopting and enrolling more underprivileged individuals into its Health insurance scheme as a quickening the Universal Health Coverage and make quality healthcare a reality for all Nigerians.

The Executive Secretary, Nasarawa State Health Insurance Agency, Dr Yahaya Bawa Ubam made this appeal yesterday while addressing members of the Press on the remarkable strides and ongoing efforts of the Nasarawa State Health Insurance Agency, (NASHIA).
The Executive Secretary who was represented at the ocassion by the Scheme Information Officer, Ms. Mariam Asheotsa Ekom added that the appeal has become imperiative to enable the state scheme continue to provide hope and transformation in healthcare access across Nasarawa State to it’s citizens and by extension, to the entire the country.

According to him, even though the scheme enrollment growth has risen to an impressive 275,756 individual, provided an affordable Premiums contribution to ensure accessibility, it still needs funding and the inclusion of the informal sector in addition to exploring more flexible payment options to increase accessibility for informal sector participants.

” This is in addition to strengthening rural healthcare facilities which remains a priority to bridging the urban-rural healthcare divide”

He however expressed the State government committiment to ensuring that the poor and vulnerable are carried along adding that NASHIA remains as a beacon of what is possible when vision meets commitment.
