Many Nigerians has shown a sigh of relief following the declaration by the Nigeria Medical Association that it will not join the on- going strike embarked by Labour to press home their demand of getting good minimum welfare package from government
The Association made this known In a Press Statement issued to Journalists in Abuja by its National General Secretary, Dr Benjamin Egbo.
According to them, the Association remains committed to providing quality medical health care and services to Nigerians who needs them.
It further directed doctors to be at their duty posts to attend to clients who desire to make use of health services.
In their words ” The NMA has not declared a strike action, hence doctors will be at their duty posts to attend to clients who desire to make use of health services.
‘Though the NMA is not an affiliate of the Organized labour in Nigeria but we share in the pains and hardship Nigerians are currently grappling with.
The Association however called on Government as well as all stakeholders to consider the plight of the average Nigerian and do everything possible to address the issues that have led to the present impasse.
However, Mr Mmadu Odogwu and Mrs Comfort Ufuma among several Nigerians who spoke to The Communicator on- line newspaper commended NMA for such decision adding that losing life because of failure to access medical care remains the greatest injustice done to humanity.
They however appealed to government to reach a concrete terms with the Labour union to avoid crippling the economy of the nation.
Recall that Nigeria labour on Monday embarked on a nation wide strike to press home their demand of getting better minimum package for Nigerian workers.
